Effective 03/20/26 Design Change Notice RE: Marking Window Removal and Addition of Accessory Slot
Dear Valued Altech Customer,
The purpose of this notice is to inform you on changes with all configurations of the Doepke DLS9 UL 489 circuit breakers, DLS 8 UL 508 manual motor controllers, and DLS 7 UL 1077 supplementary protectors. Description of Change:
The entire range of circuit breakers have been modified to remove external marking tag windows. A slot has been added between poles for future accessories. The part numbers will remain unchanged. Impact of Change:
There will no longer be a marking window to protect or affix labels to. Please see attached page for comparison of cosmetic changes. The removal of the marking window does not affect product form, installation, nor usability. The function and performance of the circuit breakers has not been altered. Reason for Change:
Many customers requested the marking windows to be eliminated as it was often damaged in transit or at production sites. In addition, this change is part of an internal optimization effort that will increase production efficiency and simplify tooling needs. Scope of Change:
All Doepke DLS 9 UL489 circuit breakers, DLS 8 UL 508 manual motor controllers, and DLS 7 UL 1077 supplementary protectors. Amperages from 0.3 up to 32 are not affected by this change. Effective Date of Implementation:
This change is currently planned Q2 2026, but is already in progress for some configurations. During the transition a mix of circuit breakers may be provided. After our stock of the marking window design are depleted, they will be unavailable. Other:
Concurrently packaging will be updated from a plain white carton to a printed and branded carton. Please see attached figure. Effective 01/19/26 Notice of Supply Chain Constraints on Direct Current UL 489 Circuit Breakers We would like to provide an update regarding current supply chain constraints affecting production of our direct current (DC) UL 489 circuit breakers. As many in the electrical and power distribution industry are aware, global demand for rare earth materials and permanent magnets has increased significantly. Rare earth permanent magnets, particularly neodymium-based magnets, are critical components within DC breaker operating mechanisms and magnetic trip assemblies. Over the past several quarters, tightening export controls, extended lead times, and reduced production capacity from Chinese suppliers have created sustained global shortages of these materials. Recent regulatory changes affecting export licensing and compliance requirements for certain rare earth materials and magnet products have added additional complexity to international procurement. These measures have increased administrative lead times and further constrained the availability of qualified magnet components across multiple industries. As a result, manufacturers across the industry, including our supply chain partners, are experiencing unprecedented material constraints and extended procurement cycles. These conditions have directly impacted availability of our DLS 9 series DC UL 489 rated circuit breakers and related assemblies. The attached page provides a list of affected part numbers. We want to assure our customers that we are actively implementing mitigation measures, including: - Engaging qualified secondary and diversified supplier networks where UL certification and technical equivalence can be maintained
- Increasing forward purchasing commitments to secure material allocations
- Working closely with manufacturing partners to optimize production scheduling and capacity utilization
While these mitigation efforts are ongoing, we anticipate extended lead times and intermittent availability for the direct current rated DLS 9 UL 489 breaker line over the coming months. Our team is closely monitoring supply conditions and will continue to provide transparent updates as the situation evolves. Effective 07/01/25 Product End of Lifecycle (EOL) Notice VKA and EVA 80-150A switches his letter is to inform you that Altech Corporation is executing an end of lifecycle process for all VKA and EVA disconnect switches. Due to significant changes in raw material availability and the resulting impact on production, these products are discontinued effective immediately. Product availability for three pole disconnect switches are limited to the stock currently available at the Altech warehouse. Four pole disconnect switches will be available to order until the supply of housings is depleted. This date is not fixed. See attached list for part numbers affected by this discontinuation along with suggested replacements. If no part is listed as a replacement, please contact Altech for alternatives. the plotters and engraving units will be discontinued. This technology is coming to the end of its life cycle and will not have a direct replacement. Accessories such as plotter pens, fixtures, engraving needles, etc… will still be offered for 1 year.

The original parts were pens with non-etching ink which is no longer available. The alternates are pens with etching ink.
